Many clients request Liposuction, a routine operation which is performed to permanently remove the fat cells from unwanted areas. This is achieved by placing a narrow tube under the skin which draws out excess fat tissue. This will result in a slimmer appearance which will be maintained unless there is weight gain. Liposuction is not a treatment for generalised weight gain, nor does it normally improve “cellulite”. If you have any concerns relating to these areas, please discuss this during your consultation.
What is involved?
Areas of concern will be discussed during the consultation. During the procedure, small incisions less than 1cm across are made in the targeted areas to remove the fat tissue beneath.
How long does the procedure take?
The timing of the procedure will vary from client to client, however most procedures can be completed within 1-2 hours.
Are there any risks?
All treatments carry risk, most commonly there is a risk of bleeding, infection, swelling/bruising or scarring. In regard to liposuction taking fat tissue from areas that have excess skin can result in sagging and wrinkles. Prior to surgery the condition and elasticity of the skin will be thoroughly assessed before the procedure. There is also a chance of over or under correction. Other risks will be discussed during the consultation.
The majority of these complications, if they occur, can be resolved by our team with further treatment.
What aftercare is Provided?
We advise that following the surgery compressive garments are worn for up to six weeks. The swelling from liposuction normally takes 3 to 4 months to settle down. Strenuous exercise is best avoided for several weeks following the surgery and keeping the small incision sites clean during the healing process is advised.
